about the design :
This design is influenced by the concept of ancient futurism. This concept can be described as something, which is rooted in the past but branched out into the future. For this design, I have tried to blend ânature inspired/organicâ patterns with the futuristic sci-fi visual aesthetic.
The âYantâ in âSak Yantâ means âYantraâ, literally translating to âa deviceâ. The mechanical or electrical elements in this design is inspired by this perspective of viewing the Yant. I have used the script and geometric diagrams to preserve the occult or otherworldly feeling of Sak Yant tattoos, and have tried to find a way to create a harmonic flow between the elements.
To create a balance in the design, I have tried to use elements which has contrasting structures and movements. I have also tried to maintain balance by experimenting with the differing use of negative space for different elements of the design.
Steering away from the usual perception of what a yantra is, I tried to imagine a yantra as a futuristic device, which maybe opens a portal in our reality and is used to harness energy from an alternate dimension.
